Privacy Policy — US Citizenship Test

👋 Overview

US Citizenship Test ("the App") is designed to help you prepare for the USCIS civics interview. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the App accesses, how it is used, and how it is protected.

            We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers.
            All your study progress and test results are stored only on your device.
        

📦 Data We Store Locally

The following information is saved exclusively on your device using Apple's standard storage (UserDefaults):

Questions you have studied
Civics test results and scores
Badges earned
Daily study streak
Your 65/20 applicant preference
Onboarding completion status

This data never leaves your device and is not shared with anyone. You can delete it at any time by uninstalling the App or using the "Reset All Progress" option in the Progress tab.

🎙️ Microphone & Speech Recognition On-Device

The Oral Interview Simulation feature (Premium) uses your device's microphone and Apple's Speech Recognition framework to transcribe your spoken answers.

Microphone is used only while you are actively recording an answer
Audio is processed by Apple's Speech Recognition APIs
No audio recordings are stored or sent to our servers
You can deny microphone access — the feature simply won't work

🌍 Translation Apple Framework

The translation feature (Premium) uses Apple's Translation framework. Translations may be processed on-device or via Apple's servers depending on the language pair and iOS version. We do not receive or store any translated text.

💳 Subscriptions & Purchases

The App offers a monthly Premium subscription ($9.99/month) processed entirely through Apple's App Store and StoreKit. We do not collect or store any payment information — all billing is handled by Apple.

Purchase history is managed by Apple
You can cancel anytime in your App Store account settings
Subscription status is verified directly with Apple — we never see your payment details

🔔 Notifications

The App may request permission to send local notifications to remind you to study and maintain your daily streak. These notifications are generated entirely on your device — no data is sent to any server. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings.

👶 Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 years of age and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

🔄 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
