BrocPal – Privacy Policy

👋 Overview

BrocPal is a personal nutrition and fitness tracking app. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, why we collect it, how it's stored, and your rights.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your health  
  data for advertising.

📷 Camera Access

BrocPal uses your device camera exclusively to capture photos of meals for AI-powered nutrition analysis.

Photos are sent securely to Anthropic's API to estimate calories and macronutrients
Images are not stored on our servers — only the resulting nutritional data is saved to your account
The camera is never used in the background
You can revoke camera access at any time in iOS Settings → BrocPal → Camera

🍏 HealthKit Data

BrocPal may request access to Apple HealthKit to read your step count, active calories burned, walking/running distance, and sleep analysis data.

HealthKit data is used only to display your activity and sleep within the app
HealthKit data is never shared with third parties
HealthKit data is never used for advertising or marketing
We do not write any data back to Apple Health
You can revoke HealthKit access at any time in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → BrocPal

🤖 AI Meal Analysis

When you use the AI food scanner, your food description or photo is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for analysis. This data is used solely to estimate nutritional information and is subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

We do not store the images you submit for AI analysis. Only   
  the resulting nutritional estimates are saved to your account.

BrocPal offers a 3-day free trial for new subscribers, followed by a paid subscription:

☁️ Data Storage

Your data is securely stored in Google Firebase / Firestore, hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.

Your data is synced across all your devices
Data is stored as long as your account is active
You can delete your account and all data from the Profile screen in-app

🔔 Notifications

BrocPal may send local notifications to remind you to log meals, drink water, or maintain your streak. These are generated on your device — no data is sent to a server. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings → BrocPal → Notifications.

👶 Children's Privacy

BrocPal is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe your child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

🌍 Your Rights

Access the data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate personal data
Delete your account and all associated data (in-app or by email)
Withdraw consent at any time
Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

🔄 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of BrocPal after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
